Hospital Support      Hospital Peramiho - Report

We are constantly facing new challenges and great worries in our ministry among the people in Africa.

POOR = SICK

Mother and Children with injuries A sign not familiar in the USA or in any industrialized country can be witnessed daily in Tanzania or Kenya at the health facilities sponsored by us.

Human suffering in all imaginable forms:

• mothers with their children
• the aged
• the crippled
• the injured
• those with various diseases and illnesses

They come with hope and expectations!

See a report of Bro. Dr. Ansgar about his hospital.

Our hospitals are outstanding in their services and in the number of people treated daily. Payment is minimal. Health care insurance is nonexistent. Most of the cost needs to be absorbed by caring people.

Many of our hospitals report an occupancy rate of 150% to 200%. The wards need to be remodeled and upgraded - private rooms are unheard of; modern technology in labs and operating theaters is lacking...

Our doctors, nurses, aids and staff, many of them members of our Benedictine communities of monks and sisters, together with our lay employees, cannot just stay within the boundaries of a hospital compound. We see the suffering of a multitude of people, afflicted with all kinds of diseases.

However, the lack of financial resources should not stop us from bringing better health care to remote areas, and to our brothers and sisters in need.

As missionaries we go beyond meeting the basic needs.

Empowered by God's Holy Spirit we live among the people, giving
witness of Christ's loving care, bringing the Good News of the
Gospel and the teachings of the Church, celebrating the Sacraments
with those who have embraced the faith, restoring hope...

CARING IS SHARING

We are not insensitive to your own needs.

However, we are bold enough to ask for your help on behalf of the less fortunate. For the love of God, do you see a way of reaching out to us so that we can continue serving others?

Each and every dollar will help. God knows that we need the small donations as much as the large ones.

Please, become a partner in our efforts to help.
Your caring for others through the sharing
of your financial resources, in addition to
your prayers, will make the difference in our
ministry.

God will reward your generosity and care.

We monks promise to remember your needs and intentions in the daily celebration of the Eucharist and whenever we gather for prayer.
